#NEXT5: Cristian Roldan is focused on reducing plastic waste

Roldan NEXT5

Ahead of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, an annual event celebrated globally that showcases support for environmental protection, Earth Day Northwest 2020 has launched the #NEXT5 & #VoicesCarry2020 campaign.

It could be the next five weeks, months, years or decades. Earth Day Northwest 2020 wants to hear your voice and what tangible actions you’d like to see taken to promote the preservation and long-term health of our environment.

For Sounders FC midfielder Cristian Roldan, his #NEXT5 challenges the community to reduce waste caused by plastic, calling for a shift to reusable materials and thus lightening the burden on our global ecosystem.

#NEXT5: Cristian Roldan is focused on reducing plastic waste -

“In the next five years, a positive change that I would like to see is for everyone to take plastic waste more seriously,” said Roldan. “We all use so much plastic everywhere in our daily lives. We toss empty bottles and wrapping, buy items that are packaged wastefully, and generally just don't tend to think about all the plastic we're using - and throwing away after that ONE use. From using reusable drinking containers for your water or morning stop at Starbucks to bringing your own bags when shopping, if we all begin to take small steps seriously, we can build on that and make a difference.”
