Sounders FC continues its Sounders FC Classics broadcasts tomorrow evening, with this week’s edition airing the club’s iconic 2-0 victory over the Chicago Fire in the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final, the third consecutive USOC title in the Rave Green’s first three years in Major League Soccer. This week’s broadcast is presented by Zulily.
Sounders FC Classics is available live on JOEtv, as well as both live and archived for later viewing on SoundersFC.com and via the Sounders FC mobile app, for those within the Sounders FC broadcast territory throughout the state of Washington. Fans can also tune in to 950 KJR AM via radio or iHeartRadio app to listen to the game’s broadcast.
While each Sounders FC Classics broadcast typically features a 30-minute pregame program streamed live from the club’s Twitter account to discuss the upcoming broadcast, this week the club will cancel that program, and instead use its social media platforms at that time to amplify the voice and story of Steve Zakuani. Zakuani, a former Sounder and current member of the Sounders FC broadcast team, will share a video discussing his experiences as a black man and athlete in light of the ongoing important work of the Black Lives Matter movement. Those interested can look for the video on the social accounts of both Zakuani and Sounders FC.
