Sounders FC winger Jordan Morris has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 7 & 8 following his two-goal performance in Seattle’s 3-1 in over LAFC on Sunday night.
Morris, 25, has developed into one of the most impactful attacking players in the league over the last 12 months. The Mercer Island’s scintillating attacking form in 2019, which helped the Rave Green secure club’s second MLS Cup title, has carried over into this season, as he’s posted five goals and two assists from seven regular season appearances.
Coming off a commanding 3-0 win over the Portland Timbers, Seattle hosted another Western Conference rival on Sunday night as they played host to LAFC at CenturyLink Field. Up a goal at the break, Morris put the game out of reach with two goals in quick succession, scoring in transition in the 48th minute and again the 49th minute.
In addition to his goals, Morris posted one tackle, six recoveries, one clearance, and completed all three of his dribbles.
Morris and the Sounders will have a brief respite before visiting Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night (6:30 p.m. PT; Q13 FOX, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
