Benson Hill Elementary is home to one of the 52 RAVE Foundation mini pitches built across Washington state, creating safe and accessible spaces where kids and communities can play, connect and thrive through soccer. Located in Renton, the pitch reflects RAVE’s commitment to creating opportunities where play becomes a foundation for learning, growth and belonging.
That mission comes to life through Andrew Long. As a PE teacher at Benson Hill Elementary, Andrew saw something remarkable happen when soccer arrived at his school: students couldn't get enough of it. Watching children negotiate for precious minutes on the mini pitch, he recognized an opportunity to teach far more than the game itself. Working alongside RAVE, he helped create programming that transforms soccer into lessons in teamwork, respect, inclusion and shared responsibility. For Andrew, the field is more than a place to play — it is a classroom without walls.
