In celebration of 50 years of Sounders history, we are officially unveiling our new primary jersey: The Anniversary Kit. Featuring a versatile design with a bold fusion of tradition and progress, it blends the old with the new.Â
This kit is a symbol of northwestern grit: our team’s humble beginnings, our enduring legacy, and a nod to the bright future ahead.
A modern interpretation of vintage, this simple yet vibrant design is a celebration of our club’s journey.
From 1974 to 2024, this team has belonged to our fans and our community. The Anniversary Kit encapsulates a half century of history with an eye to the future. It stays true to our guiding principle: that Sounders FC is eternally yours.
The pinstripes are an homage to our home and away kits from the 1983 NASL season, with a modern twist incorporating our evolved visual identity. The blues and greens are pulled from the past and built for the future. The kit taps into our new brand identity system – including the current primary Rave Green as the base color, and light blue stripes with dark green accents that call back to the home jerseys and shorts from 1974.
Another nod to our NASL crest as well as the incorporation of a wave element that has been present in all our pre-MLS logos, our new wordmark stamps the bottom of the jersey. This mark pays homage to The Sound and represents our home at the water’s edge.
Our tertiary mark, the orca, is emblazoned across the back of the jersey’s neck. Inspired by the logos from our APSL and A-League eras, the orca embraces our roots and celebrates Seattle in a way that is both retro and modern.
The shorts hearken back to the club’s inaugural 1974 color palette. Combined with the jersey, the pairing provides a fresh interpretation of the traditional blue and green that have defined Sounders throughout our MLS era.
The Anniversary Kit represents the intersection of our past, present and future. It honors the generations of players who paved the way for our sustained legacy of success. Inspired by our history and heritage, this kit pays tribute to our first 50 years and marks the beginning of our next 50.
