Alex Caulfield

Senior Vice President of Communications & Broadcasting

Entering his 10th full season with Sounders FC in 2024, Alex Caulfield is the club's Senior Vice President of Communications. He oversees the organization's image and overall communications strategy, including team media relations, corporate communications and public affairs. He is Seattle's senior public spokesperson and primary contact for national media, in addition to international and national broadcast partners. In 2016, he led the department that won the 2016 MLS PR Department of the Year Award, the first such honor in club history, while finishing as runner-up for the award in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Caulfield joined the Rave Green from fellow MLS side Columbus Crew SC, where he served as Senior Director of Communications from 2012 through 2014. Prior to his time in Columbus, Caulfield was Manager of PR and Communications for FOX Sports Media Group’s soccer properties in Los Angeles, acting as the network’s lead PR contact for the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, CONCACAF Champions League and other international properties, in addition to FOX Soccer’s talent and executive staff. Previously Caulfield was Manager of Media Relations for D.C. United in MLS. Serving as the team’s media liaison for local, regional and national press, he was also the club’s primary content contributor for United’s digital platforms during the 2010 and 2011 MLS seasons.

Caulfield began his soccer career in the Pacific Northwest, serving as Director of Public Relations for the Seattle Wolves FC of the USL Premier Development League, guiding the club to the 2009 Media Department of the Year Award.

Born in York, England and raised stateside in Cleveland, Caulfield is a graduate of Kenyon College, a liberal arts institution located in Gambier, Ohio. He resides in Tacoma with his wife, Kelsey, and their children, Jane and Will.
