All northbound lanes through the State Route 99 tunnel under downtown Seattle will close for up to five nights beginning Monday night, Aug. 18, as a new pavement texturizing project begins work.
From 11 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., all northbound SR 99 traffic will need to exit to South Dearborn Street. A signed detour will guide people around the tunnel closure using city streets and northbound Interstate 5.
Join the fun in North Plaza
Enjoy a musical performance by local band Pilot Seat from 5:15 to 6:00 p.m.! Pilot Seat are three Seattle-based musicians fusing together indie/alternative pop and psychedelic rock to create a bright, clean, melodic yet raw sound. Pilot Seat have been playing throughout Seattle since 2021.
There will be a host of fun activities pre-match for kids of all ages, including a Kids Sprint hosted by RAVE Green Run, an inflatable field for pick-up soccer games presented by Arena Sports, a Hit the Target Challenge, and more!
Our favorite orca, Sammy the Sounder, will also be joined by fellow Seattle area mascots like Rucky from the Seattle Seawolves, Doppler from the Seattle Storm, Rudy the Redhawk from Seattle University, and Harry the Husky from the University of Washington.
