All four Seattle Sounders FC Academy sides will be in action at Starfire Sports in Tukwila this weekend.
The U-14’s and U-15’s, both of whom play a year up in the Far West Regional League, enter the weekend in fine form. After falling behind 3-1 to GS Surf in the first half, the U-15’s battled back to a 3-3 draw courtesy of goals from Jourdan Furukawa and JoeJoe Richardson. Meanwhile, the U-14’s showcased their offensive firepower in a massive 7-1 against the GS Surf U-15’s.
After a weekend off, the U-16 and U-18 Sounders Academy squads return to USSDA league play with double headers against Pateadores (Calif.) and Strikers FC. (Calif.) Winger Shandon Hopeau enters the match in fine fettle after scoring an audacious brace against Crossfire, and making his USL debut for S2 in the loss to Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
Additionally, the U-16’s will look to bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 loss on the opening weekend with some positive results against the Californian academy sides.
The Academy coaches are looking forward to the numerous opportunities presented in the weekend games.
“It’s always a good weekend when all of our teams are in action at home,” said Academy Director Marc Nicholls. “We look forward to welcoming some strong opponents with the older teams. It is always a pleasure to play against PAC NW and that will be the task for our younger guys.”
