Men in Blazers Live presented by Walmart did more than just cover the historic Cascadia Rivalry between the Sounders and the Timbers during their stop in Seattle this week.
On Wednesday night at The Showbox, Sounders Head Coach Brian Schmetzer announced to fans the club will unveil its Leagues Cup banner in the rafters of Lumen Field during prior to the match against Real Salt Lake on October 11 (6:30 p.m. PT | TICKETS).
“We will drop the Leagues Cup banner to pay tribute to the excellent run of form everybody on the squad [has had] all year long,” he said. “We do have a proud tradition. We are a winning club.”
In celebration of the club’s historic achievement of becoming the first club to win every annual North American trophy, the Leagues Cup banner will be lofted alongside the banners from the team’s MLS and A-League era titles.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to not only watch the presentation, but to be a part of all that a Sounders matchday has to offer! Fan Appreciation activations will include prizes and giveaways for attendees along with the annual carnation tradition, in which players and staff will hand out the iconic flowers to fans on the field after the match to thank them for the support all year long.
