Seattle Sounders midfielder João Paulo on Thursday was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday bench for Matchday 33 following his dominant performance in the club's 2-1 road victory over the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday.
Operating in a double pivot alongside Josh Atencio, João Paulo was a two-way force on the pitch. Not only did the Brazilian midfield general help set up both goals, he also posted two key passes, 11 successful passes into the final third, one interception and three recoveries.
João Paulo and the Sounders return to action on September 30 when they visit Eastern Conference side on Nashville SC on September 30 (5:30 p.m. PT; Watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV).
