The accolades keep coming for Sounders FC Academy product Jordan Morris, who has now been called into the U.S. U-23 Men’s National Team for the 2015 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Championship.
Morris, 20, was named to Head Coach Andi Herzog’s 20-man roster on Friday. The Stanford University junior forward will be with the U-23s for at least three games in October as the Americans aim to clinch a spot in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Morris has regularly been featured on the Senior Men’s National Team in the last year, making six total appearances for Jurgen Klinsmann’s squad. His first goal for the USMNT came in a 2-0 win over Mexico at the Alamodome in San Antonio this past April. The Seattle native also played against Germany and the Netherlands, helping set up the game-winning goal in both international friendlies.
The U-23s are scheduled to face Canada on October 1, Cuba on October 3 and Panama on October 6 in Group A action. The Olympic Qualifying Championship is being played in various stadiums across the United States.
