- Schmetzer makes six changes from the Sounders' rivalry match against the Portland Timbers with Stefan Frei, Jonathan Bell, Jackson Ragen, Joao Pãulo, Albert Rusnák remaining in the Starting XI.
- Wednesday's match is the first meeting between the two sides this year. Seattle holds a 13-15-6 record against Real Salt Lake in the regular season since 2009.
- The win over Portland moved Seattle into 10th place in the Western Conference with 13 points, three points below the playoff line. Real Salt Lake sits in first place in the Western Conference with 22 points.
