Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro has made Uruguay’s final 23-man roster for this summer’s Copa América tournament in Brazil.

Uruguay is in Group C with Ecuador, Chile and guests Japan. Lodeiro and La Celeste take on Sounders teammate Xavier Arreaga and Ecuador in their opening match on Sunday, June 16, in Belo Horizonte (3 p.m. PT).

Lodeiro has 56 caps, including starts in two matches in March’s China Cup. He recorded an assist in each match, a 3-0 win over Uzbekistan and a 4-0 win over Thailand.

Lodeiro is second in MLS with eight assists so far this season and has also chipped in two goals in 14 matches. He will be suspended from the Sounders’ upcoming match at FC Dallas on Saturday (5 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, Univision-Seattle, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM) because of yellow-card accumulation and has already joined Uruguay’s camp.
