When Seattle Sounders captain Brad Evans and his wife, Becky, decided they wanted to get more involved in the Seattle community, it didn't take them long to come up with an idea.

"We both have a love of animals," says Evans, who is set to host the second annual Puts for Pets event on Thursday, Feb. 25 at Flatstick Pub in Kirkland. "This was the obvious choice for us. We started brainstorming what we could do to help Seattle Humane."

Evans' connection to the Seattle community reaches far beyond the pitch. In 2015, he was named the club's Humanitarian of the Year for his charitable efforts and was among the three finalists for the MLS league-wide award. With another season coming up, Evans is excited to host the event again to benefit one of his favorite local organizations.

"[Seattle Humane] are currently going through a big campaign called 'Animal People Can' to help raise money for another facility in Bellevue," said Evans. "The event is held at Flatstick Pub, so it's a great connection to where I live in Kirkland and the owners are Season Ticket Members."

Tickets are now on sale, and the night will also feature a silent action for Sounders memorabilia. Coming right between the team's first Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League match on Feb. 23 and the MLS opener on March 6, it's the perfect chance for Evans and his teammates to hang out with their supporters.

"I really think people had a great time last year," Evans said. "We raised a little over $5,000, and this year, I'm hoping to double it. It's a great night to hang out, play some putt-putt and have a beer with our fans."
