Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei to the Week 33 Team of the Week bench following his super individual performance in the team's 1-0 loss at Sporting Kansas City on Sunday.
Needing three points against SKC to stay in the race for a spot in the postseason, Frei produced nine saves at Children's Mercy Park to keep the Sounders in the match. In particular, his double save in the 29th minute, in which he pulled off an acrobatic flying stop deny Willy Agada a header into the top corner and then quickly got up to block Agada's second effort from close range, was nothing short of spectacular.
Frei and the Sounders return to action on Sunday as they host San Jose Earthquakes (2:00 p.m. PT; FOX 13+, Prime Video, Univision Seattle, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360AM | TICKETS) on the Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumen Field in the final match of the 2022 MLS regular season.
