Seattle Sounders winger Jordan Morris was named to the Team of the Matchday following his dominant two-goal performance in the Rave Green's 4-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Matchday 1. Additionally, midfielder Cristian Roldan and left back Nouhou were named to the Team of the Matchday bench for their game-changing roles in the home opener on Sunday.
Morris dominated proceedings from the opening whistle as he played quick combinations with teammates and utilized his pace to get behind Colorado's back line. His dangerous off-ball movement led to the opening goal when he found space down the right flank before clipping a perfect cross to Cristian Roldan at the back post. In addition to scoring two headed goals, he registered another key pass in the second half when he picked out the run of Héber, but the Brazilian was denied by a point-blank stop from Rapids goalkeeper William Yarbrough.
Lined up on the opposite wing, Roldan proved to be a menace on both sides of the ball against Colorado. Seattle's Swiss Army Knife tallied a goal, a key pass, four shot creating actions, and two successful dribbles to go along with one tackle, one interception, and a team-leading five aerial duels won.
Nouhou supplied a vintage performance at left back against Colorado as he completely shut down every Rapids attack that began to develop down his flank. The Cameroonian international led the Sounders with four successful tackles to go along with his one interception as he largely nullified the threat of Michael Barrios down the wing.
The Sounders return to action on Saturday as they host Real Salt Lake (7:30 p.m. PT; MLS Season Pass On Apple TV App | TICKETS) at Lumen Field.
