Major League Soccer on Monday announced four finalists for the Matchday 7 Goal of the Matchday, with Sounders midfielder Josh Atencio earning one of the four spots in the poll.
Atencio punctuated a man-of-the-match performance against St. Louis CITY SC on Sunday with an unforgettable long-range golazo -- his first goal of his MLS career -- as the Homegrown Player helped spur Seattle to victory, earning him a spot on the Team of the Matchday.
After receiving a layoff pass from Nicolás Lodeiro, the 21-year-old midfielder unleashed a rocket of a shot from distance that sailed past goalkeeper Roman Bürki to give the Sounders a 1-0 lead.
