PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2019 (Seattle): Smith started 22 of his 25 regular season appearances for Seattle, ranking fourth on the team with six assists. The Australian international started all four of Seattle’s postseason appearances as the club captured its second MLS Cup title. In July, Sounders FC and AFC Bournemouth agreed to extend Smith’s loan with Seattle through the 2019 season.

2018 (Seattle): Smith made an instant impact after joining Sounders FC on loan from AFC Bournemouth during the summer transfer window. The Australian fullback started all six appearances for Sounders FC and recorded an assist in a 3-1 win at Sporting Kansas City (September 1). Unfortunately for the Rave Green, the speedy wing player was forced to miss the last month of the season and postseason after suffering a hamstring injury.

2017-18 (AFC Bournemouth): In his most recent season with Bournemouth before joining Sounders FC, Smith made three appearances across all competitions for the English Premier League side. He started in a 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic in the Third Round of the FA Cup (January 6), as well as two appearances in the English League Cup – a 2-1 win over Birmingham City (August 22) and a 1-0 extra-time win over Brighton & Hove Albion (September 19).

2016-17 (AFC Bournemouth): In his first season with AFC Bournemouth, Smith made eight appearances across all competitions, including five matches in English Premier League play. He also made two appearances in the English League Cup – a 2-1 win over Morecambe (August 24) and a 3-2 extra-time loss to Preston North End (September 20). He also appeared in 3-0 loss to Millwall in FA Cup action (January 7).

2015-16 (Liverpool): Smith started three of four appearances for Liverpool in English Premier League play, in addition to four appearances in the FA Cup and one in the English League Cup. He scored his first goal for Liverpool with a 73rd minute equalizer in a 2-2 draw with Exeter City in FA Cup action (January 8). He also made one appearance in UEFA Europa League play, a scoreless draw with FC Sion (December 10).

2014-15 (Swindon Town): Smith was loaned to League One club Swindon Town for the 2014-2015 campaign. He started all seven of his appearances in league action, in addition to appearing in two games in English League Cup and one game in EFL Trophy play.

2013-14 (Liverpool): After being promoted to the Liverpool First Team, Smith made his Premier League debut in a 2-1 loss to Chelsea (December 23), coming off the bench to log 30 minutes as a substitute.
