Academy hammers Vancouver on home turf

The Sounders FC academy had a successful weekend handily beating the Whitecaps FC at both the U18 and U16 levels.
Sounders FC Academy hosted Cascadia rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy on Saturday at Starfire Sports Complex, coming away with two wins and continuing a run of strong form. First, a Jordan Morris hat trick fueled the U18’s in a 4-2 win, extending their unbeaten streak to five games (2-0-3). Then the U16’s got two goals from Elliot Havens and two assists from Denis Kalamar as they picked up their fourth straight win with a 4-0 result.




The Academy squads return to action in two weeks when they travel down to California to take on San Jose Earthquakes Academy and Cal Odyssey. They face the Earthquakes on Saturday, November 17, at the Nutrilite Training Facility and Cal Odyssey the following day at the Neighborhood Church Fields in Visalia, California.




Sounders FC U18 (USSDA) (2-1-4, 10 points)

Sounders FC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC (November 3) – W, 4-2

Jordan Morris scored a hat trick and Isidro Prado-Huerta added another as the U18’s cruised to a 4-2 win. Morris put the Rave Green up 2-0 in the first half on balls from Jordan Kollars and Sam Langston, then added an unassisted strike in the second half before Prado-Huerta scored his third of the season. Morris is now tied with Ike Crook for the team-lead with four goals, while he and Kollars lead the club with three assists.

Sounders FC U16 (USSDA) (4-1-2, 14 points)

Sounders FC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC (November 3) – W, 4-0

Elliot Havens scored his first two goals of the season to fuel the U16’s to a 4-0 win, their fourth straight. Denis Kalamar fed Havens to go up 1-0 early on, then assisted Sean Bowman’s goal less than 15 minutes later. In the second half, Jose Ramos fed Havens for his second score and MacArthur Clark made is 4-0 on a ball from Lorenzo Ramos. Goalkeeper Ben Willis picked up the shutout for Sounders FC.
