On Monday, Major League Soccer unveiled the 2019 regular season schedule, with each of its 24 clubs playing 34 matches from early March through the beginning of October.
The Sounders will be broadcast on either ESPN or the FOX family of networks 11 times in the upcoming campaign, including the season opener against FC Cincinnati on March 2 at CenturyLink Field (7 p.m. PT / FS1). As part of today’s schedule rollout, the Sounders also announced that it is hosting Uruguayan club Nacional in a preseason friendly on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at CenturyLink Field in a 7:30 p.m. PT kickoff.
As always, Sounders FC’s four 2019 Cascadia Cup matchups against Portland and Vancouver are highlights of the schedule, including a pair of nationally-televised fixtures against the Timbers in Seattle on July 21 (FS1) and August 23 (ESPN). This marks the return of the balanced schedule among Cascadia teams, following last season’s adjusted format due to Seattle playing Vancouver three times and Portland twice. The club’s home match against Whitecaps FC is slated for June 29 (TSN).
2019 Sounders FC Season Memberships are available starting at $24 per match. Season Memberships include all 17 MLS matches plus two bonus matches. The first bonus match will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m. PT vs. Nacional of Uruguay. Nacional is one of the most storied clubs in South America and also the home club of Sounders FC midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro, who played in Nacional’s youth system from 2003-07 before making 49 appearances with nine goals for the senior team from 2007-10. The second bonus match opponent and match date and time will be announced at a later date.
