A Welsh international and veteran of English football, England anchored the Sounders defense from 1975-1979, recording 106 appearances and six goals. Prior to his arrival in Seattle, England made more than 450 league appearances for Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham Hotspur, helping Spurs win the FA Cup, two League Cups and the UEFA Cup. He recorded 44 caps and four goals for Wales, holding the distinction as the country’s youngest-ever permanent captain until Aaron Ramsey in 2011. England later served as manager of the Welsh National Team from 1980-1988, was awarded an MBE for his services to Welsh football in 1984 and was inducted into Tottenham Hotspur’s Hall of Fame in 2013.
