Major League Soccer on Thursday named Seattle Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan to the Week 9 MLS Team of the Week following his fantastic all-around performance in the club’s 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake at Lumen Field on Wednesday evening.
Operating as the attacking midfielder in Seattle’s new 3-5-2 formation, Roldan covered every inch of the pitch against RSL, putting in an excellent two-way shift. In addition to posting two key passes, Roldan won 75% of his duels and notched the team’s opening goal as he finished off a beautiful counterattack.
Roldan and the Seattle Sounders return to action on Saturday as they host the Vancouver Whitecaps (6:00 p.m. PT; JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS) at Lumen Field.
