The Seattle Sounders are hosting the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday in their first meeting this season. Here is everything you need to know:

WHEN AND WHERE: Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. PT at Lumen Field (TICKETS).

WHERE TO WATCH: The match will be available to watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV

2023 RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders: 8-2-5 (26 points, 1st West), San Jose: 5-4-5 (19 points, 5th West)

FORM GUIDE (most recent first, MLS matches only): Seattle: WLLWL, San Jose: DLLWD

PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders tied the San Jose Earthquakes 2-2 in Seattle on Oct. 9, 2022, the team’s final match of the 2022 season MLS regular season. Despite Nicolás Lodeiro providing a brace for the Rave Green in the first 50 minutes of the match, the Quakes managed to come back to tie it 2-2.

MAINTAINING MOMENTUM: The Sounders are back to winning ways after securing a positive result over the weekend against the New York Red Bulls. With another victory added to the Rave Green’s record, the team sits in the No. 1 spot of the Western Conference with a total of 26 points.

PATH TO GREATNESS: For the seventh time since joining MLS in 2009, the Sounders have secured more than 25 points over the course of their first 15 games of the season.

LÉO CHÚ COOKING: Sounders winger Léo Chú is enjoying a breakout season in 2023, as he leads the team with six assists in regular season play. His latest goal contribution came on Saturday as he supplied Jordan Morris with an inch-perfect cross for the game-winning goal.

HOMESTAND CONTINUES: The Sounders began their three-game homestand on Saturday against New York. Wednesday’s battle against the Earthquakes will be the second game of the stretch, and Saturday’s Doubleheader with OL Reign (TICKETS) marks the culmination of this epic homestand.

CHALLENGES ON THE ROAD: The Quakes have been unable to secure a win on the road in 14 [away] matches. While the team currently has the second longest winless streak on the road (behind Vancouver with 15), the team is no stranger to this sort of drought, as they’ve experienced an even longer run in their 2008-2009 season with 20.

SUCCESS IN SEATTLE: Despite having struggles on the road, the Quakes have always been a difficult opponent at Lumen Field. The California team has a total of six regular season wins against the Rave Green in Seattle, tying them with Sporting Kansas City as the team with the most road wins against the Sounders since 2009.
