The Seattle Sounders are visiting Liga MX’s Tigres on Wednesday (6 p.m. PT; FS2, TUDN) in Leg 1 of their Concacaf Champions Cup quarterfinal tie. Here are three matchups to watch:
Alex Roldan vs. Ángel Correa

Tigres is loaded with attacking firepower, and none more than Correa. The former Argentina international and longtime Atlético Madrid forward is in his first year in Mexico and is still as dangerous as ever at 31. Nominally a right winger, he lined up on the left side in Tigres’ 5-1 win over FC Cincinnati in the Round of 16, and his combination of agility and technical skill make him a handful for opposing defenses. Seattle will need to ensure that in attack Roldan can force Correa to play more defensively, while also having cover when Correa is on the ball.
Jackson Ragen vs. Rodrigo Aguirre

Aguirre joined Tigres from fellow Liga MX powerhouse Club América in February and has hit the ground running in Monterrey. El Búfalo had two goals and an assist in Leg 2 against Cincinnati and is an imposing figure in the final third. Especially with Yeimar sidelined with a hamstring injury, the onus defensively will fall on Ragen to keep the Uruguayan international quiet and off the score sheet.
Danny Musovski vs. Joaquim

Musovski is coming off a career year in which he scored 18 goals in all competitions, which recently earned him his first international call-up with North Macedonia. Musovski, who scored against Vancouver in the Round of 16, will need another huge performance, especially on the road where goals are invaluable. Tigres are led by formidable central defender Joaquim, who Tigres acquired in 2024 for nearly $8.5M from Santos in his native Brazil.
