FORM GUIDE (most recent first): Seattle: WWWWW, Philadelphia: LDWWW

ALL-TIME HISTORY: The Sounders are 4-4-2 against the Union all time, including a 4-1-0 record at home.

PREVIOUS MEETING: Seattle fell 2-0 to the Union at Talen Energy Stadium in October 2017 behind goals from Marcus Epps and Roland Alberg.

WWWWWWWWWILL THIS JOKE EVER GET OLD? NO: The Sounders enter their cross-conference clash with the Union in the midst of a nine-match winning streak, which is a MLS record in the post-shootout era, after toppling Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 at BC Place on Saturday, September 15.

MIDWEEK MAGIC: The Sounders hold a 3-1-0 record in midweek matches during the 2018 MLS season, including road wins over Toronto FC (2-1 on May 9), Colorado Rapids (2-1 on July 4) and the San Jose Earthquakes (1-0 on July 25). Wednesday’s fixture is the first midweek league match the Rave Green have hosted this campaign.

CH-CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: The last time the Union played at CenturyLink Field, a regular season match in April 2016, the Sounders escaped with a 2-1 win. Only four players who made the roster for that match–Stefan Frei, Chad Marshall, Ozzie Alonso and Cristian Roldan–are eligible for selection on Wednesday.

IT’S COMING HOME: With the 2-1 win over the Whitecaps at BC Place on Saturday, the Sounders secured the 2018 Cascadia Cup for the third time in the MLS era, and the first since 2015.

RED-HOT RUIDIAZ: El Nuevo Nueve has been instrumental in sustaining Seattle’s win streak of late, as he’s scored four goals in his last five matches, including a decisive brace on Saturday against the Whitecaps.

KIM & MARSHALL: Seattle’s backline has earned plenty of plaudits for its stalwart defending throughout the winning streak. Center backs Chad Marshall and Kim Kee-hee have been pivotal to the team’s success at shutting out the opposition. The pair have started the last seven matches, helping compile a goals-against average of 0.71.

CLIMBING THE STANDINGS: After the latest win, the Sounders moved up to 5th in the West, just six points shy of second-place FC Dallas with a game in hand.
