It’s finally here.
The Summer With The Champs has been building toward this moment as the Seattle Sounders prepare to host the Portland Timbers (1:55 p.m. PT; FOX, FOX Deportes, 93.3 KJR FM, El Rey 1360AM | TICKETS), at Lumen Field on Saturday.
With pre-match parties, musical performances, special appearances, exclusive merch, the unveiling of our CCL Champions banner, and the greatest rivalry in American soccer, this is the can’t-miss event of the summer.
Here are five reasons to attend the match this weekend:

Join us as we drop a Concacaf Champions League banner from the rafters at our match against the Portland Timbers on July 9! Don’t miss limited quantity giveaways, exclusive merchandise, and special musical performances from Travis Thompson and The Head And The Heart.
ANOTHER BANNER
Saturday is all about celebration.
A celebration of the club’s unprecedented achievement becoming the first MLS team to win the Concacaf Champions League. A celebration of the fans that helped set the CCL attendance record at the final. Above all else, it’s a celebration of the state of soccer in our city as the club continues to fill its trophy case and we prepare to welcome the world to Seattle for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Make sure to arrive early and be in your seats by 1:30 p.m. PT as we immortalize our Concacaf Champions League title in the rafters of Lumen Field. It will be a beautiful sight when the CCL Champs banner takes its place next its counterparts representing our four U.S. Open Cups, Supporters’ Shield, and two MLS Cups ahead of a match against the Timbers.
MARQUEE MATCHUP
In the 115th match of this storied rivalry, Saturday marks the first meeting between the Sounders and Timbers of the 2022 season. Seattle enters the fixture as the reigning back-to-back-to-back Cascadia Cup champs, flexing their supremacy over Portland and Vancouver by lifting the regional trophy in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
From Roger Levesque’s tree chop celebration to the 6-2 demolition of the Timbers at Providence Park last year, some of the most memorable matches in Sounders FC history have come against Portland. Every edition of this matchup is an instant classic, filled with unforgettable goals and heated battles all over the pitch.
PRE-MATCH PARTY
With so many exciting events surrounding Saturday’s match, the festivities will start bright and early. Make sure you swing by Occidental Square at 11:00 a.m. PT for SoundCheck, the official pre-match party. We’ll have music by SoundWave, local DJs, and a live recording of our Side x Side Podcast with Brad Evans and Steve Zakuani, as well as special guest Roger Levesque. There might even be a special appearance by club mascot Sammy the Sounder.
At the conclusion of SoundCheck, you can make the quick trek to the stadium alongside fellow supporters at the March to the Match.
MUSICAL PERFORMANCES
Swing by the North Plaza before the match to watch a 30-minute set from local rapper Travis Thompson, a protégé of Macklemore who has appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. The event will also feature several food trucks curated by our friends at Intentionalist and an Alliance Member Beer Garden.
Additionally, the CCL Championship banner unveiling will be accompanied by a special musical performance on the pitch by The Head And The Heart.
