The Sounders return home this weekend as the team hosts its annual Youth Match against Eastern Conference powerhouse Chicago Fire on Saturday afternoon at Lumen Field.
Not only is Saturday’s fixture a chance for fans to watch exciting soccer, there are also plenty of activities and exclusive opportunities set to take place throughout the stadium for all ages to enjoy.
Here are five reasons to attend Saturday’s home match:
Deki debut
Earlier this week, the Sounders signed Dejan Joveljić as a Designated Player, adding an immediate threat to the team’s offense. His stats speak for themselves — with 67 goals and 22 assists across regular season and postseason competition since joining Major League Soccer in 2021, he will undoubtedly come in and make a significant impact for the Rave Green, beginning this Saturday.
The best of the best
Both the Sounders and Chicago Fire have made optimal additions to their attack over the last month. Along with Joveljic likely starting on Saturday according to Head Coach Brian Schmetzer, the Fire will be introducing their latest signing, Robert Lewandowski, to Lumen Field. Lewandowski joins the Midwest side following a four-year tenure with Barcelona and previously Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. Arguably one of the best strikers in this era, Saturday’s match is expected to be as competitive as it gets with both sides bringing a new offensive edge to their lineups.
Reinforcements
Sounders FC midfielders Cristian Roldan and Hassani Dotson, and forward Jordan Morris have been in full training this week with the likelihood that the three players will be available for Saturday’s match. The team has been spread thin over the last month due to injuries, making the added depth of Roldan, Dotson and Morris vital as the team looks to grab their first win since May 13.
Family fun
Along with our regularly scheduled Kids Zone during Sounders matchdays, Lumen Field will also be hosting a Kid Rave + Mascot Party from gates open to kickoff in the North Plaza where youth fans can hit the dance floor alongside Seattle’s favorite mascots, including Moose, Buoy, Rucky and more! There will also be a gate giveaway for the first 7,000 kids upon entry that comprises a Sounders pencil pouch with a 4-pack of crayons and new youth merch available at the Pro Shop. For additional info on upcoming activations, head to the KBYG page.
Upper Bowl access
Due to high demand for the upcoming Youth Match, the 300 level will be open on Saturday. With its added excitement on the pitch and throughout the stadium, the atmosphere is expected to be electric.
