Each club played three group stage matches against teams from the opposing league with no draws allowed. Matches that ended with the score level went straight to penalty shootouts with both teams receiving a point and the winner of the shootout receiving an additional point. PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders went down to Southern California just two weeks ago and pummeled the Galaxy 4-0 behind a Julián Aude own goal, a Danny Musovski brace and an MLS debut goal from Snyder Brunell.

MUSOVSKI SUSPENDED: Fresh off his hat trick in the Sounders’ 5-2 win over Sporting Kansas City on Sunday, Musovski will be suspended for the Leagues Cup Semifinals against the Galaxy after being sent off against Puebla in the Quarterfinals. Musovski received an additional game ban and will be unavailable for the Leagues Cup Final as well, should Seattle advance.

LA HEATING UP: After a record-breaking poor start to the season in which they failed to win any of their first 16 matches, the Galaxy are now 4-2-2 in their last eight games in all competitions., including a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rapids over the weekend.
LEAGUE-WORST DEFENSE: Despite their recent record and clean sheet this past weekend, the Galaxy still own the joint-worst defensive mark in MLS (Sporting Kansas City), having conceded 55 times in 27 contests.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
- Marco Reus, M: Still one of the most gifted players in the league on his day, the former German international has five goals and a team-high nine assists in MLS play this year.
- Gabriel Pec, F: The Brazilian is one of the most electric wingers in MLS and boasts a combination of both pace and elusiveness in the final third. He’s having a rather modest campaign in 2025 after posting a 16-goal, 14-assist output in 2024.
- Joseph Paintsil, F: Along with Pec and the injured Riqui Puig, Painstil is another one of the Galaxy’s “Killer P’s” and is having a tremendous Leagues Cup tournament. The Ghanaian has just five goals and an assist in MLS this season, but he has three goals and an assist in just four Leagues Cup games.
