2025 RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders: 10-6-8 (38 points, 4th West), Galaxy: 3-14-7 (16 points, 15thWest)

FORM GUIDE (all competitions, most recent first): Seattle: WWWDW, LA: WDWDL

PREVIOUS MEETING: The Galaxy defeated the Sounders 1-0 on Nov. 30, 2024, in Southern California in the Western Conference Championship. Dejan Joveljić scored the match-winner in the 85th minute to send LA to MLS Cup, where it won its sixth title.

SOUNDERS STEAMROLLING: The Sounders are unbeaten in their last nine matches in all competitions (6-0-3) and are fresh off a perfect 3-0-0 showing in Phase One of the Leagues Cup to clinch the No. 1 spot in the Quarterfinals. Seattle has scored 22 goals in its last seven contests, the most in the club’s MLS history.

INJURY CONCERNS: Sounders midfielders Albert Rusnák and Ryan Kent exited Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Club Tijuana with hamstring injuries, Head Coach Brian Schmetzer confirmed. Their eligibility for this weekend’s match is unlikely.

DERO CAN’T STOP SCORING: Sounders forward Osaze De Rosario now has three goals in his last 133 minutes across four matches. He earned his first career First Team start against Tijuana and scored the equalizer in the 56th minute.

TOUGH START: Just months after taking home the 2024 MLS title, the Galaxy set the league record for most consecutive matches without a win to begin a season with 16. LA has played relatively better over the last couple months, but it still sits last in the overall MLS regular-season table with just three wins in 24 contests.

LEAGUES CUP RESURRECTION: The Leagues Cup has been a massive boon for the Galaxy, helping them hit a stride they’ve yet to reach in MLS play. LA dominated Santos Laguna on Thursday evening to, despite their domestic struggles, become one of just four MLS teams to advance to the Knockout Rounds. They beat Santos 4-0 to increase their Goal Difference to plus-seven, enough to catapult themselves into third place, dropping Orlando City to fourth and knocking out the Portland Timbers from the competition. LA will play Pachuca, who finished second in the Liga MX table, in the Quarterfinals.

DEFENSIVE STRUGGLES: Part of LA’s issues this season has stemmed from its defense. The Galaxy have conceded 48 goals so far, the second-most in MLS behind only D.C. United (49).

PLAYER TO WATCH: Marco Reus, M

In the wake of another massive German player coming to MLS in Thomas Müller, it’s Müller’s former Bundesliga rival and Die Mannschaft teammate Reus who runs the show for the Galaxy. With Riqui Puig sidelined with an ACL injury, Reus has needed to carry an extra burden in attack. He has five goals and eight assists, both team highs, in just over 1,300 minutes of MLS play this year.
