INTERNATIONAL DUTY: The Sounders continue to be without forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Cristian Roldan, who are each with the United States at the Concacaf Gold Cup. DEFENSE TURNS TO OFFENSE: Center backs Jackson Ragen and Yeimar made their presence known in the attack on Saturday night against the Whitecaps. Ragen tallied two assists for the Rave Green while Yeimar had the game-winning goal during stoppage time. Ragen’s pair of assists earned him a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday lineup.
CHÚ STANDS OUT: Léo Chú continues to stand out this season after tallying a brace over the weekend against the Whitecaps. He now has a total of three goals accounted for this season along with his club-leading eight assists. His two equalizing goals on Saturday awarded him MLS Player of the Matchday and a spot on the Team of the Matchday lineup for Matchday 24.
CONSECUTIVE WINS: Saturday’s result against the Whitecaps marks the Rave Green’s second win in a row, putting them in the No. 2 position in the Western Conference with 35 points. The Sounders are currently three points behind first place team St. Louis City SC.
EVENLY MATCHED: Despite San Jose coming out with a win the last time the two teams went head-to-head, the past results showcase the evenly-matched battle that occurs between the ‘Quakes and the Sounders. San Jose currently holds 14 wins, Seattle has 16, and the two teams have tied a total of 11 times all-time in MLS regular season play.
